Sol the Wise Guy has stayed out of Hornytown for a hot minute. But when a sexy sheyd sweeps into his office saying she’s been framed for murder, well, sometimes a shmendrick’s gotta step up to the task.

This silly, satirical, romp through the Devil’s corner of D.C. prompts the question of what we could might repair with a little old Chutzpah.

“Hornytown Chutzpah, like a good noir movie, keeps the pace lean and mean and knows when to move along the plot so that the story doesn’t flag. Like a screwball comedy, it knows exactly when to hit the comedy beats and when to become more serious. And it knows when to hit you in the heart and soul.” —Paul Weimer, Multi Hugo Award winning genre writer

The Skiffy and Fanty Show

“The plot is engaging, there are twists, yet everything holds up. The characters have a lot of emotional depth (human and demon alike) and there are moments of profound understanding and serious reverence. Worth your time even if you’ve read plenty of this subgenre.” —Daniel Haeusser

Reviews:

“Wonderfully fun! Hornytown Chutzpah swaps out Virgil for a mouthy private dick to lead you through hell. A visceral underworldly tale, and an unforgettable voice.” —Meg Elison, author of Foundling Fathers

“A detective goes to Hell. Literally. What a wild romp! I really enjoyed Hiller’s novella, right down to the very potent chicken soup. For people who love noir, detective stories, and the occasional Pit stop, this is for you.” —Joyce Chng, Hugo Award winner and author of the Fire Heart duology

“With verve, razor-sharp wit, and plenty of heart, Hornytown Chutzpah peels back the layers of hell (well, its DC-adjacent outpost) to expose the messy foibles of humanity. Timely, compulsively readable, and just plain fun.” —P. H. Low, Ignyte-, Locus-, and Rhysling-nominated author of These Deathless Shores

“Buckle up for a zany romp through the outskirts of hell. Andrew Hiller’s Hornytown Chutzpah mixes together urban fantasy, noir murder mystery, and a big splash of Jewish humor into a wildly imaginative story. It’s bonkers in the best possible way.” —Jo Miles, author of Warped State

“This glossary is fantastic. I love it!” —Jennifer Hudak, author of the Nebula finalist Witch Trap

Reviews:

“I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Castoff, Crilly’s followup to his amazing debut novel, Catalyst. I wanted more of his breathtakingly original world—a fractured planet now in pieces, held together by mysterious orbiting entities—more of the intriguing people he put into my head and heart, and, not least, to find out how he planned to resolve the surely impossible problems facing all. I’ll not spoil any of this for you but suffice to say, Crilly does not disappoint. Castoff is powerful, elegant, and filled with new surprises, bringing this epic fantasy to a thrilling and satisfying conclusion. Crilly has a gift for portraying truly immense ideas and landscapes through the most intimate and personal of lenses, his characters, making his story utterly compelling to read. Bravo! Highly recommended.” – Julie E. Czerneda, author of the Night’s Edge series

“Whether through oldest friendships, budding love, or connection to the eldritch creatures that safeguard your world (what else!), Crilly masterfully explores conflict and renewal in relationships—all with an inventive and enthralling world as a backdrop.”– Claudie Arseneault, Indie Ink Award winning author of Baker Thief

“Definitely my favorite kind of sequel: the kind where the consequences follow on hard and fast from the first book.” – Author Marissa Lingen

“Castoff is beautifully layered and reads just like an epic fantasy. Crilly doesn’t make heroism look or come easy, and we get to see the cracks in history. The tension is one of the narrative’s biggest strengths. The characters each respond differently to faith and responsibility. The past resurfaces even when the people work to rebuild. Their world is still broken and trying to survive. It reminds me of N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season for these similar traits.” – Reader Views (5-Star Review)

A stunning, comprehensive collection of short stories, poetry, recollections, and drawings, by Singaporean writer Joyce Chng.

Cover Art by Mr. Amorn Setthitorn

Reviews

“Wolf’s Path is a remarkable new entry from Joyce Chng demonstrating why she’s one of the most ambitious and engaging SFF writers today. It’s an excellent introduction to her work that’s sure to delight you with its evocative prose and compelling ideas long after you’ve put it down!”
—Bryan Thao Worra, author of American Laodyssey

“Joyce Chng’s Wolf’s Path is a journey. A trek not merely through the author’s chronological career trajectory but across time, space, and genre. From piratical adventures on the high seas to worlds destroyed by climate change and resurrected through sheer will, from prose to poetry to autobiography, this lyrical collection is a celebration of the queer, the primal, and the sensory. Chng is a masterful storyteller, weaving together the rich cultural tapestry of Singapore with literary prose and fresh interrogations of genre fiction. Wolf’s Path is a howl of triumph.”
—Rachel A.Rosen, author of Cascade

“Wolf’s Path is an intricately exciting collection of speculative stories, poetry, and personal essays that flow together with an undercurrent of warmth and thoughtfulness. Joyce wonderfully creates stories that expand and question perspectives, with characters that can be as sharp as claws and soft as paw pads. They have a way of embedding the fury of injustices within plotlines so that something kinder can grow in their characters. Each story leaves us with catalysts for reflection, growth, and hope. Highly recommended for those who enjoy memorable, speculative stories that are robustly imaginative and edged with a quiet (sometimes feisty!) intensity.
—Dhiyanah Hassan, artist

“Whether it’s examining fantastical pasts, apocalyptic futures, or the SFnal world we call reality, Wolf’s Path is a fascinating exploration of how others use our differences against us, and how our differences ultimately help us find our place in the world. Chng excels at creating unique, relatable characters who will pull you in and stories that will change your perspective. Highly recommended, especially for those who feel they’re stuck between worlds—real or imagined.
—Stewart C Baker, author of The Butterfly Disjunct

“A collection to mark Chng’s turning 50 this year, this is a collection that embraces the changing nature of the writer over their career: from their earliest published work, through to very recent pieces, showing the consistent themes that Chng keeps coming back to. In particular, questions of what life can and might be like during war pop up several times; and explorations of gender, ethnicity, and identity broadly defined are a consistent presence. And Chng’s experience as a Singaporean is also fundamental to their stories, with many of the stories taking place in either a real or imagined Southeast Asia. It’s brilliant that Atthis Arts is publishing this retrospective collection. Too often white men get collected early in their careers and everyone else just… doesn’t. Chng’s voice is an example of one that should be highlighted and celebrated.”
—Alexandra Pierce, editor of Speculative Insight

“Wolf’s Path is full to the brim with beautifully written stories from the wonderfully imaginative mind of Joyce Chng.”
—Rohan O’Duill, author of the Cold Rush series

“You should deffo pick up a copy. The themes are bold and poignant, and the stories take you so well through a path of discovery. It’s wicked.”
—Dr. Emma Burnett, multi-published short fiction writer

The Factory by poet and prose writer Ihor Mysiak, translated by Yevheniia Dubrova and Hanna Leliv, was published in its original Ukrainian in 2022, dedicated to the author’s friend who was killed by Russia while defending his home. The following spring, Ihor himself was also killed by Russia, and a global community came together to further share his deeply poetic and insightful words.

Atmospheric and meditative, Mysiak’s staccato Ukrainian storytelling paints an evocative tale of a motley and rather strange gathering of men who restore a broken-down factory aside an old, forgotten village to build and sell electronic machines assured to cause happiness. Though smoothly woven between pleasantries and mishaps, often calming, and frequently amusing, there is a deeply cutting edge of satire, fury, and rebellion to this meandering tale. In all of this, The Factory builds its own modern parable to remind the reader of love, community, and the joys of every single day, and the need—the urgency—to protect them.

Reviews

“Set in the Sauúti universe and tightly packed with rich worldbuilding, Songs for the Shadows is crafted in beautiful prose and depth, meditating on silence and sound and song as powerful cultural entities—a magic system of sound excavation and the folding and manipulation of time that blew me away!”–Tlotlo Tsamaase, Caine Prize Finalist and author of Womb City

“In Songs for the Shadows, Ntumy continues the work of the Sauúti Collective, in immersing the reader into an expansive and complex world in which the magic and power of the oral—prayers, wails, chants, songs, words, and therefore stories—have been elevated to the most valued cultural artifacts. I was mesmerized by this world and by the rule-breaking, self-inventing Shad-Dari who, in seeking to drown out the echoes of her past loses everything she thought she needed.” –Gothataone Moeng, 2024 Whiting Award winner for Call and Response: Stories

“Cheryl’s writing is magical, lyrical and breath-taking. Imagine a world created by and out of sound – and that sound is linked to our very beings. Plus the beautiful evocations on the non-linearity of time and how we deal with the voices from the past. Bravo!” –Joyce Chng, author of Fire Heart

“Vivid, immersive and otherworldly. Songs for the Shadows takes us on a journey into the depths of shifting sound and reality, and connecting with that which can both destroy and heal us. Time shaped by sound, sound out of time, this is a novella that builds to an emotional crescendo.” –Stephen Embleton, 2024 Best Novella Nommo Award Winner

The Gray Assassin Trilogy

Grayshade, the best assassin in the shadowy city of Cohrelle, takes his most dangerous action yet: asking why. In the fallout of everything he’s known now seen as lies, he finds what remains true: his skills, his companions, and his own determination to see his new mission through. Beyond the city of his upbringing, he travels mountains, plains, the dread Bloodmarsh, and into the heart of the grand city of Tellisar, determined to do what he must. A thrilling tale of swift swords and silent death, The Gray Assassin Trilogy is unflinching, philosophical, and hopeful, a necessary reminder in these times that we find truth and faith in love.

“All the action and wondrous magic you’d expect but so much more. The theme of redemption, of owning your past to build a better future, is front and centre, especially for Grayshade himself, lending a depth and compassion to this story. I loved it. You will. Highly recommended.”
—Julie E. Czerneda, author of the Night’s Edge series from DAW Books

“The Gray Assassin Trilogy is a gripping tale, a superb fantasy adventure wherein real characters stride off the pages to spend time with you, a bright hoard of gold and gems. Seize yours now!”
—Ed Greenwood, internationally bestselling author and creator of The Forgotten Realms

Within the towering walls of Cohrelle, all bow to the Order’s authority, even while the city officials publicly distance themselves from its actions.

As the supreme executor of the Order’s edicts, Grayshade dispatches his targets with protocol and precision. But when an assignment breaks these rules, he does the most dangerous thing an Acolyte of Argoth can do: he asks why. Now a target of the Order he so long served without question, he must use all of his skills not only to kill . . . but to stay alive.

Renegade

Somewhere, in these unfamiliar lands, he must find what he seeks — answers.

Previously the Order of Argoth’s most skilled assassin, Grayshade remains their target. His goal: learn the true threat to the people of Cohrelle, and protect those who remain there. Used to the patterns of human nature, but not the secrets behind the yellow eyes of a panther, the whispers and lies of dreams, nor the sunless gloom of the infamous Bloodmarsh, Grayshade will need everything he has — outside and inside — to stay alive.

Heretic

The renegade assassin Grayshade has brought his companions and his quest for answers—or vengeance—to the heart of the Order of Argoth, in the grand city of Tellisar. Neither Grayshade nor the Order will rest until the other is vanquished … no matter the cost.

And Grayshade is not alone. As he walks the markets, the districts, and the rooftops of the city, allies and enemies of unexpected origins reveal themselves, seeking to help or hinder him. Grayshade has seen enough of death. But can his determination to forge a new future, for himself and those he cares for, save him from the failures of his past?

“Wilson wraps up his fabulous The Gray Assassin Trilogy in the best possible way in Heretic. There’s all the action and wondrous magic you’d expect but so much more. The theme of redemption, of owning your past to build a better future, is front and centre, especially for Grayshade himself, lending a depth and compassion to this story rarely found in sword and sorcery. I loved it. You will. Highly recommended.” — Julie E. Czerneda, Hall of Fame author of the Night’s Edge series from DAW Books

“Heretic is an exciting novel of redemption through community. Wilson’s strength as a storyteller shines through the vividness of the city of Tellisar, the backdrop of the assassin Grayshade’s quest. This is a great read for anyone who loves classic fantasy TTRPGs and dagger-filled adventures.” — Darcie Little Badger, author of Elatsoe

“The Gray Assassin Trilogy is a gripping tale, a superb fantasy adventure wherein real characters stride off the pages to spend time with you, a bright hoard of gold and gems. Seize yours now!” — Ed Greenwood, internationally bestselling author and creator of The Forgotten Realms

“Pulls no punches in making its heroes work for a heart-pounding finale. Wilson knows how to challenge characters at every turn and take readers on a journey.
